Big talk but not walking that talk? Daily Devotion | 29th January 2023

Big talk but not walking that talk?

Next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.

Mark 11:12-14 NIV

– The tree had leaves that were meant to be accompanied by fruit.
– It made a huge impression but had nothing to show, big talk but not walking that talk.
– Instead of receiving grace to produce, the tree brought upon itself a curse that
destroyed it completely.
– In God’s kingdom desire to impress kills while desire for truth invites grace.
– Imagine the fig tree wanted to impress outside the season.
– Could it be that the Holy Spirit wants you to start walking in truth instead of
wasting the time of the season trying to impress everyone? Just asking.
