Be yearning for a commpassionate heart.- Daily Devotion | 22nd October 2022

Be yearning for a commpassionate heart.

Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you,
(but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other
Gentiles. I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to
the unwise. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that
are at Rome also.

Romans 1:13‭-‬15 KJV

– Paul felt a burden, an obligation to reach with the gospel the Jews, the Greeks ,
the educated and the uneducated, slaves or free, even those far away in Rome.
– Compassion, deep concern for the other is of God, many are the times Jesus was moved with compassion.
– The Samaritan who helped a victim of robbers was commended by Jesus (Luke.10:25-37)
– This Samaritan ,unlike the Priest,or the Levite responded with compassion, he felt obligated,
burdened to help
– The lepers who got miracle food felt that it wasn’t right to it keep to themselves,(2 Kings7:9)
– They remembered the hungry population in their city, compassion for others.
– In these last days of utter insensitivity, may God of heaven find it in Him the grace to baptise
us with fresh compassion from His heart, a concern that will not constrain us to reach out to others.

“Anyone out there yearning for it?”
